Synopsis:

It is our given privilege to bring our requests to God through prayer BUT prayer is more than just petitioning/making our requests known.  Matthew 7:7-12 is more about growing in kingdom character, righteousness and joy by increasing our knowledge of Him through prayer, walking with and imitating Him.
